The Enugu State governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Uchenna Nnaji, has said that the current crisis rocking the party was predicated on the campaign money for the state.

Nnaji, who spoke at an emergency stakeholders meeting held at the southeast zonal office of the party, said if the anticipated campaign fund from the APC’s presidential candidate, Bola Tinubu, would be a source of destabilisation for the party, the fund should instead be withheld.

Punch newspaper quoted him as saying “The current crisis in Enugu APC is all about Tinubu’s campaign money. The so-called stakeholders are fighting to be in charge and preside over the disbursement of Tinubu’s money.

“We don’t want the campaign money of the presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress, Bola Tinubu to prosecute the 2023 general election in Enugu state.

“By the special Grace of God, we will use Enugu APC resources to prosecute the election in 2023 and after the election, the party will refund us. It is Tinubu’s money that is causing the crisis in Enugu APC.

“After this emergency meeting, I will go to Abuja to tell the national chairman of the party that we don’t want campaign funds”.

Nnaji, however, appealed to ‘Abuja stakeholders’ to come home and join him in the grassroots mobilisation of support for the party so that the party will win the election.

He regretted that now that the party is being repositioned to win an election, the mischief makers are trying to remove the executives of the party just about six months before the election.

Meanwhile, the crisis among members of the All Progressives Congress in Oyo state has continued to raise concerns.

Some supporters of the 2023 presidential candidate of the APC, Bola Tinubu have said that the party may lose its grip in Oyo state.

Daily Trust reports that these supporters under the aegis of Disciples of Jagaban (DOJ) called on the National Leadership of the party to resolve the internal crisis in the state.

The national coordinator of the DOJ, Abdulhakeem Adegoke Alawuje, appealed to the Oyo state governorship candidate for the party, Senator Teslim Folarin to re-trace his step and change his style.

Alawuje said Folarin has failed to create any room for genuine reconciliation between him and other chieftains of the party after the primary elections.

The APC stalwart noted that should the party leadership fail to resolve the crisis brewing in the state, security votes for the part will be only a dream that would be difficult to actualise.

He said: “In Oyo State, the unfortunate crisis bedevilling the All Progressives Congress, APC, is sending a very wrong signal, which needs to be collectively taken cognisance of and decisively laid to rest by the national leadership of the party.

“Senator Folarin must not forget that Oyo state political actors can never be easily manipulated nor coerced to do whatever they might have made up their minds against.”

Alawuje called on Tinubu and the entire leadership of the APC to step in before it is too late as all is not well in Oyo State APC.
