2023 Presidency: Reasons Why Peter Obi Might Fail To Become Nigeria’s Next President -Julius Ogunro

Ever since Mr. Peter Obi was declared as the flag bearer of the Labour party for the 2023 presidential election, his popularity especially on social media has appreciated.

It would be recalled that the former Anambra state governor was a member and presidential aspirant under the People’s Democratic Party before he resigned and joined Labour Party.

Nigerians have been weighing Obi’s Chances under Labour for the coming elections.

Nigerian political analyst, Julius Ogunro has joined in looking at Obi’s Chances.

In his piece that was published on The Cables. ng, Julius Ogunro opined that Peter Obi’s ambition will fail.

Ogunro wrote to the Cable. ng that Peter Obi does not have the political muscle to push his agenda to Nigerians.

Ogunro noted that Nigeria is practicing identity politics which might affect Peter Obi. He noted that in Nigerian political settings, Ethno-religious factors always triumph over political ideology and the economic know-how of individual candidates.

He cited examples of how chief Obafemi Awolowo and Nnamdi Azikwe failed in the 1979 and 1983 elections despite possessing qualities needed for the position. The candidates had a string of university degrees, and written books but failed.

He also described the Nigerian identity as weak and this might affect Peter Obi’s chances.
