Legendary Nigerian artiste, Innocent Idibia, professionally known as 2baba, has demanded the release of popular rapper, Ice Prince, from Police custody.
Ice Prince was arrested on Friday, September 2, 2022, for driving without a license plate.
The Lagos State Police Command spokesperson, Benjamin Hundeyin, said the rapper, when stopped, agreed to be taken to the Police Station but abducted the police officer, assaulted him and threatened to throw him off a cliff of a river.
However, 2baba used social media to express his displeasure at his colleague’s release. “@Nigerianpolice has being a young person in this country turned into a crime? Every protest and battle is also an effort to get you better equipment, compensation, and retirement benefits. #FREEICEPRINCE.” (sic)
Law enforcement had charged Ice Prince on Friday with three crimes that were close to assault, obstruction, and kidnapping a police officer. The rapper has pled not guilty to all counts.
The musician was also granted bail in the amount of N500,000 by the magistrate handling his case, Taiwo Oyaniyi, who also ordered him to remain in Ikoyi prison till his bail requirements were satisfied. According to daily trust.
