There are some great female politicians that originally hails from Anambra State. Their contribution to politics in their region was actually commendable. Some of them were lucky enough to attain positions which no other woman in the country has achieved. Below are three great women of yesteryears who have contributed much to Nigerian politics and are from Anambra State.

One of the female political pioneer from the state is Uche Lilian Ekwunife. She is a Nigerian politician, and member of the 9th Nigerian Senate representing the people of Anambra Central Senatorial District of Anambra State. She is known as one of the most active female senators in the House.

Another great woman in the history of Nigerian politics from Anambra State is Princess Stella Oduah Ogiemwonyi. She is a Nigerian Senator and former Minister of Aviation. She was confirmed to the ministerial post and sworn in on July 2, 2011 and was deployed to the Ministry of Aviation on July 4, 2011

She was also active in the political campaign of former President Goodluck Jonathan, where she served as his campaign’s Director of Administration and Finance.

Dame Virginia Ngozi Etiaba is another Nigerian politician who has demostrated the power of women in Nigerian politics. She served as Governor of Anambra State from November 2006 to February 2007. She was the first woman and till date, the only female to serve as governor of a Nigerian state.
