3 Reasons Why Arsenal Will Have Another Disappointing Season Despite their Current Form

[ad_1]

Arsenal’s unbeaten run came to an end as they fell to a disappointing loss to Manchester United, the gunners had won their first five EPL games prior to facing Man United and were touted as title contenders.

Arsenal played brilliantly in the game but brilliant football doesn’t ultimately secure the three points, after the game it would be worthy to reevaluate this Arsenal side after some crucial yet damning observations was made in their loss to Manchester United.

Here are my observations about Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal after their loss.

1. Lack of Squad Depth

As the season kicked off it was perceived that the gunners now have proper squad depth to challenge for the Premier League title, that isn’t the case as the supposed Thomas Partey replacement was below par against Man United.

Against lower ranked teams Albert Sambi Lokonga might be able to get the job done, but when faced against elite midfielders Lokonga will be found wanting.

Another area Arsenal lacked cover for is the right wing where Bukayo Saka operates from, giving that he was ineffective for most part of the game Mikel Arteta should have brought on his backup but there was none and Fabio Vieira and Emile Smith Rowe were introduced instead.

Top teams like Man United, Liverpool, Manchester City have at least two options in every wing, this will prove damning for Arsenal when Bukayo Saka becomes fatigued from excess use.

2. Lack of Champions Mentality

To become Champions you have to beat the Champions, while Arsenal have been able to beat the smaller teams they were unable to beat a Man United side that wasn’t at full strength, so what happens when they meet a fully fledged team like Liverpool or Manchester City.

Just like it was during Arsene Wenger’s reign Arsenal played good football, beat the lower teams but they always fell short when it came to defeating the actual title contenders, the Champions mentality is yet to fully take effect in this Arsenal side.

3. They Aren’t Title Contenders Material

The gunners currently top the Premier League table which in my opinion wouldn’t last for long, at their current ability, mentality and squad depth they might finish in the top four but tagging them title contenders isn’t realistic, to actually become Champions games like the loss to Man United should have been a win.

4. Need More Signings

They have a very brilliant group of players but more is needed to reach the level they would love to be, five to six players is still needed.

A proper backup right back, two wide players, two midfielders would get them to the next level.
