The demise of United Kingdom’s longest serving Monarch has downed the height of activities in the UK to a low point. The news of The Queen’s demise on Thursday September 8, 2022 was shattering for her subjects who cherish the Monarch dearly.

The English Premier League Management decided to show respect for the Late Queen by postponing the weekend fixtures in honour on the week. The news of this decision has filled fans and lovers of English football with mixed reactions.

Considering the effects of this decision made by the league management, it is believed that the league management could have sort for better ways to honour the queen rather than putting a indefinite halt to league football.

For what it is worth, The Queen who was a lover of sports and was actively involved in it, Would she have wanted the league to be brought to a sudden halt due to her demise?, Allowing clubs and businesses to lose millions and millions of Pounds Sterling?

Of course there are better ways the management could have gone about this without halting league football and still honouring the Queen as well. Here are three ways the EPL could have honoured the Queen with the league still going on as expected.

1. EPL fixtures present fans the opportunity to gather and be entertained with classy football. For the thousands of football fans in mourning, this would have been a great opportunity for the fans( irrespective of their clubs) to gather in the stadium and show their appreciation to the Late Monarch.

2. As a sign of respect, they could have given room for the national anthem to be sung before the kick off to give honour to The Queen. Fans would have the opportunity to passionately sing out “God save The Queen”, at least for the last time before the anthem is changed to “God save The King”, since her son is expected to take over the throne.

3. EPL Players, managers and staffs, would have had the opportunity to adorn the black hand band during the weekend fixtures and would have observed a minute silence as well in honour of the Late monarch just like they did at Old Trafford.

The Queen’s death has brought a lot of loss financially to the United Kingdom, a stall of league football or postponement of matches multiplies this financial losses for individuals, businesses and the kingdom at large.
