Several football stars have visited Nigeria in the past few years. However, in this post, we are going to look at some premier league legends who have visited Nigeria.

1. Thierry Henry

Thierry Henry is one of the greater strikers in the history of the Premier league. The Arsenal legend made a memorable visit to Nigeria in December 2017.

The French man was in Nigeria to celebrate the unique passion for football among fans in the country in an event organised by the Guinness fan zone in Victoria Island Lagos.

The Arsenal all-time top goal scorer was dressed in the Igbo royalty attire and costumes as he received an honorary title. Henry was also unveiled as Guinness Made of Black ambassador during the event.

2. Rio Ferdinand

Manchester United Legend Rio Ferdinand has visited Nigeria on different occasions. The ex-red devil defender visited Lagos Nigeria in January 2020 for the Pan-African Finale of the Guinness Night Football, which had some popular celebrities in attendance.

During his stay, England International made a surprise visit to computer village Ikeja Lagos.

Before Ferdinand’s visit in 2020, he had visited Nigeria in 2018 for a series of events organised by Guinness Nigeria.

His first visit was reportedly in 2008 on the invitation of former Lagos state governor Babatunde Raji Fashola.

3. Patrice Evra

Manchester United legendary defender Patrice Evra made a sensational visit to one of the one buzzing towns of Lagos, Oshodi.

The football star met a good number of exciting fans in Oshodi. He was all smiles as he was hailed by fans who repeatedly shouted ‘Evra Bus stop’. In a video shared on his verified Twitter handle, the manchester legend who was accompanied by organised “Chess in the Slum” equally played chess with the street kids under the bridge of Oshodi.

4. John Terry

John Terry is one of the greatest defenders the English premier league has ever had. The Chelsea legend visited Nigeria in November 2021 alongside Real Madrid icon Roberto Carlos for the “Game of Kings”, a novelty match organised for Budweiser.

John Terry and Roberto Carlos who captained separate teams played alongside stars in the Nigeria Professional Football League in Onikan Stadium Lagos. The Chelsea star also toured the beautiful city of Lagos before his departure.
