4 Things Learned From Manchester United’s 3-1 Win Over Arsenal

[ad_1]

On Sunday evening, Manchester United defeated Arsenal 3-1 at Old Trafford to win four matches in a row in the Premier League, with a goal coming from Anthony and two goals from Rashford.

1. Ten Hag shows Antony faith and it pays off

We already know that Erik ten Hag is reluctant to alter his starting lineup, therefore Casemiro and Cristiano Ronaldo must continue to wait for their opportunities.

The one exception is Antony. Antony into the starting lineup right away after only a few Carrington training sessions.

This is because Antony already had Erik ten Hag’s trust from their time together at Ajax. He is aware of the contributions the winger will make. The winger will play a crucial part this season, if that wasn’t already obvious from the sum paid.

Early in the season, Lisandro Martinez was inserted right into his starting lineup as well, which reveals something about the manager.

It took Antony 35 minutes to make an impact. He scored the game’s first goal with a well-placed shot after being put through on goal and finishing one on one. The ideal beginning was this.

2. United conceded too easily

Bukayo Saka’s goal 15 minutes into the second half gave Arsenal the equalizer. The equalizing goal was so easy, which was unfortunate for Manchester United. Near just a few seconds after United lost possession of the ball in midfield, it had been scored. Erik ten Hag will have a lot to consider, and nobody is solely to blame. Everyone failed to pay attention and execute their defensive strategy, which was a collective disaster.

There is a case to be made that Casemiro should have been introduced sooner to try and protect the team’s lead, yet Erik ten Hag’s decisions and substitutions shouldn’t be questioned in any way.

3. Rashford’s confidence is coming back

At the beginning of the season, there were many doubts about Marcus Rashford, and a miss against Brighton brought to light a problem with his finishing.

Since then, he has scored in back-to-back home games, converting one-on-ones against Liverpool and Arsenal at pivotal moments in both games.

When he takes advantage of these opportunities, you can tell that his confidence is returning. An excellent pass from Bruno Fernandes gave him the chance.

Rashford is increasingly playing a significant role in the team’s recent success. He has two assists in his last two games.

He scored again to make it 3-1 for Manchester United, demonstrating his return to form. He has currently scored the most goals for Manchester United.

4. United now three points off the top

Let’s face it, Manchester United had the worst conceivable start to the season, but the media and opposition supporters seemed to enjoy it somewhat.

Let’s see if United receives acclaim comparable to how the club responded, stringing together four straight victories, including triumphs right now over Liverpool and Arsenal.

With the win, United has moved up to fifth place, critically only three points behind the leader. While this shouldn’t immediately make people think we can contend for the championship, it does demonstrate that the squad is headed in the right direction.

This season, a top four finish must be a real possibility, but for now, let’s just enjoy the journey.
