FRSC blames speeding for 10 fatalities in Ogun and Delta highway accidents.

On Wednesday, a bus caught fire in a single collision on the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway, killing five people from burn injuries.
In Ogere, Remo-North, Ogun State, our correspondent learned that the accident happened at around 8:38 a.m. it was in front of Tabiorah Church.
At the time of the event, there were 14 people riding in the Toyota Hiace bus with the licence plate KAA601XA: seven men, four women, a boy, and two girls.
This was revealed in a statement released on Wednesday by Florence Okpe, the Federal Road Safety Corps’s Ogun State spokesman.
“The suspected cause of the lone crash was mechanical deficiency, which resulted in a fire incident while the vehicle was still in motion,” she added.
Okpe said the deceased victims were two male adults, one female adult and two girls.
She noted that nine persons — five male adults, three female adults and a boy –sustained injuries.
The injured victims were taken to Victory Hospital, Ogere, while the corpses were deposited at the FOS Morgue, Ipara.
In a related development, three travellers were killed in an accident around 3.15am on Wednesday at Mile 12 Market, Ogere, Ogun State.
Our correspondent gathered that a Micra car and two trucks were involved in the accident.
The FRSC spokesperson, Okpe, in a statement, said three of the six men in the vehicles died, while other passengers were rescued unhurt.
She said, “The suspected causes of the multiple crashes were excessive speed and dangerous driving on the part of one of the truck drivers, who was trying to negotiate a turning point and the other truck coming from Ibadan with high speed rammed into the vehicle.”
Also, two students of the Delta State Polytechnic, Ogwashi-Uku, lost their lives in an accident on Monday.
An eyewitness told our correspondent that the victims were celebrating the purchase of a car.
He said, “The students were celebrating the arrival of their car and unfortunately crashed into a tipper in the community.”
The Delta State Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Bright Edafe, said two people died in the crash.
He said, “Yes, there was an accident in Ogwashi-Uku community; two occupants of the vehicle — one Sarah Opia and the name of the man yet to be known — died instantly. The driver was rushed to the Federal Medical Centre, Asaba, and I think he is still alive.”
