Supporters of Mr. Peter Obi, Labour Party presidential candidate, popularly known as ‘Obidients’, shut down Enugu State capital on Saturday.

The 2-million-man March, which commenced at the Michael Okpara Square grounded vehicular movement within the metropolis.

A mammoth crowd, which increased as the team advanced, moved round the major roads in the State before returning to Okpara Square

Commuters, who are facing herculean task in accessing some parts of the State, have resorted to alternative routes.

Obi’s supporters, who cut across various pooitical divides, marched through the capital city singing solidarity songs as they moved.

#ICYMI : Buhari Approves FG’s Takeover Of Gombe Airport 

President Muhammadu Buhari has approved the takeover of the Gombe State Airport by the Federal Government.

Governor Muhammad Yahaya of Gombe State made the disclosure on Friday while addressing State House Correspondents after a meeting with the President.

He explained that the move would ensure the availability of funds to maintain the facility throughout the lifespan of its operation.

The Osun State Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Prince Gboyega Famodun has alleged that the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) is planning to plunge the State into a large-scale mayhem which may shake the State in particular and the nation in general.

The APC said the opposition PDP had acquired guns to cause mayhem in the State.

In a swift reaction, however, the PDP denied the allegations, adding that the party was the one known for violence

The Federal Government has recovered N600bn from oil and gas companies operating in Nigeria which comprised unpaid taxes, royalties, penalties and commission on rentals that were identified in the audit report of the Nigeria Extractive Industries Transparency Initiative.

Data seen in Abuja on Friday showed that the total liabilities of the 77 oil firms that were involved as at 2019 was N2.6tn, based on figures captured in the audit report of NEITI.

The House of Representatives invited the firms in a bid to recover the funds and it was gathered that after the intervention by the lawmakers, the companies commenced the process of remitting some of the funds.
