Nigerian lawmaker representing Taraba central, Senator Yusuf Yusuf has disclosed that the proposed amnesty for bandits is failing because some people in the community are part and parcel of the game.
Senator Yusuf Yusuf who made the remarks when he was responding to questions on the state of security across the various states in Nigeria, wondered where all the money given to the bandits are going to.
Senator Yusuf Yusuf stated that one of the ways insecurities in rural areas could be reduced is through the local government autonomy which has since been blocked by the state governors. Senator Yusuf Yusuf also listed illiteracy as one of the reasons for the increasing rate of insecurities in rural areas.
Senator Yusuf Yusuf dissociated himself from being part and parcel of the game after his initial comment on why the amnesty for bandits is failing.
