The candidate for Eket/ Onna/ Esit Eket/ Ibeno federal constituency under the platform of the All Progressives Congress in Akwa Ibom state, Hon Eseme Eyiboh, has charged the electorate to assess him based on his capacity and antecedents to offer the needed representation in the constituency.

The former spokesman of the House of Representatives charged them to deemphasise party politics, religion and primordial sentiments while electing their representatives in the state.

Eyiboh stated this while speaking at the Ekid Civic Centre during his consultative courtesy visit to Ekid People’s Union on Sunday.

He listed collaborations for full reactivation of Akwa Palms Industry Ltd in Esit Eket, reactivation of Qua River Hotel, the intervention in the deplorable state of electricity supply, and absence of financial institutions in Esit Eket as some of his plans for the people.

He also promised to pursue the inclusiveness of Ekid nation in the socio-economic priority development policy of the state if given the opportunity to represent them at the green Chambers.

The former chairman, Cross River Basin Development Authority, who recalled his antecedents in the house said he is “exposed, competent and better positioned to give them the required strategic representation” adding that with his established contacts, he would leverage on his long years of innovative participation in socio-democratic practices.

He said, “As director in Akwa Palm and with the mandate to plant at least 6,000 hectares of oil palm seedlings, we planted more than 6,000 hectares.

“With my technical experience and knowledge of global oil palm business and my local and international contacts, I can work with any governor in the state, bilateral and multi-lateral organizations to reactivate that industry. I am grateful to Governor Udom Emmanuel for trying to revive Akwa Palm Industry Ltd.”

Responding, the President-General of Ekid People’s Union, Dr Samuel Udonsak, thanked Mr Eyiboh for recognising the union and coming to officially consult her on his aspiration.

Acknowledging the concerns raised by Hon. Eyiboh, Samuel Udonsak stated that though EPU would not endorse anyone, members of the Ekid Union were free to take decisions on who they would vote for based on their convictions.
