Following Buckingham Palace’s official announcement of the Queen’s death on Thursday, tributes to the late monarch have been pouring in from all over the Middle East.

The Queen was described as “a long and steadfast friend to Saudi Arabia” by the Saudi Royal Embassy.

The Saudi embassy expressed its heartfelt condolences to the British Royal family, the people of the United Kingdom, and the Commonwealth on the passing of the Queen.

The embassy said in a tweet that Her Majesty was a long and steadfast friend to KSA, and she will be long remembered for her endless service to her country and her people.

Similarly, President Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed al-Nahyan referred to Queen Elizabeth II as a “close friend of the UAE and a beloved and respected leader whose long reign was marked by dignity, compassion, and a tireless commitment to serving her country.”

With the death of Queen Elizabeth II, Qatar’s ruler said, “Our heartfelt condolences to the Royal Family and the British people; with her passing, the world has lost a great human symbol.”

Sultan Haitham bin Tarik of Oman described the Queen as “a close friend of Oman (who) contributed to strengthening Oman’s close bilateral relations with the UK.”

Egypt’s President Abdel Fattah Al-Sisi issued a statement via his verified Twitter handle, saying, “I offer my heartfelt condolences, on my own and on behalf of the Egyptian people, to the Royal Family, the British Government, and the people of the United Kingdom, on the death of Queen Elizabeth II, who led her country with great wisdom for decades.”

Jordan’s King Abdullah II said in a condolence message, “Jordan mourns the passing of an iconic leader.” For seven decades, Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II was a beacon of wisdom and principled leadership. “

The late Queen was described by King Abdullah as “a partner for Jordan and a dear family friend,” and he added, “We stand with the people and leadership of the UK at this difficult time.”

Abdullah’s mother was British, and the king attended the Royal Military Academy at Sandhurst in the United Kingdom. The monarch of Jordan has declared Jordan to be in mourning for seven days.

Arab leaders and royals in the Middle East, as well as the British royal family, have long shared a special bond and political interests. The Queen enjoyed many connections in the region until her death.

During her reign, the queen also hosted many Middle Eastern leaders. During one of her 2003 visits, Queen Elizabeth II chauffeured Saudi King Abdullah around Balmoral.

According to a former British ambassador to Saudi Arabia, the king requested that the queen “slow down and concentrate on the road.”

In November 2010, Queen Elizabeth II also paid a visit to the Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates.

During a trip to the Gulf in 1979, Queen Elizabeth II also visited Kuwait, Bahrain, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, the United Arab Emirates, and Oman.
