Arsenal’s Marquinhos is among the four players shortlisted for Europa League Player of the Week award according to uefa.com. The Brazilian youngster had a memory debut for Arsenal as he inspired the Gunners to a 2-1 win over FC Zurich on Thursday ( September 8, 2022). The right-winger (whose full name is Marcus Vinicius Oliveira Alencar) made a record when he scored the opening goal of the 2022/23 edition of UEFA Europa League (UEL). The 19-year-old player was set up by Nketiah to deliver a perfect season-opener in the 16th minute. 
Marquinhos also provided provide the assist that led to Nketiah’s goal two minutes after the hour. This made him the first player to make his debut for Arsenal in an European competition and contribute to two goals in the process. Apart from his pass accuracy (85%), the young star also made a couple of interceptions and tackles. Interestingly, he moved to the North London club from his homeland this summer.
The other shortlisted players are Matias Vecino, Willian Jose and Tokmac Chol Nguen. Matias Vecino started for Lazio in their evening clash with Feyenoord. Th Uruguayan midfielder set up the first goal of the game and added two other other goals as he powered the Serie A side to a 4-2 win over the Dutch outfit. Like marquinhos, Jose is a Brazilian. He was in action for Real Betis when they visited Helsinki for an opening day contest in the tournament. He scored a brace to give his side a 2-0 win. 
Nguen is a Kenya-born born Norwegian player. He made an outstanding performance for Hungarian club, Ferencvaros when the hosted Trabzonspor of Turkey. The 28-year-old winger contributed to all the three goals scored by his club in the game. He scored the first goal of the match before setting Traore up for the second before capping it up with a penalty in the 44th minute.
