As the strike of the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) enters seventh month, students studying in public Universities across the country are sitting at home waiting for lecturers and the Federal government to reconcile.
In a quest to bring a lasting solution to the tussles between the two parties, the Committee of Vice Chancellors of Nigerian Universities (CVCNU) had a meeting few days ago in which they urge Federal government and ASUU to cooperate on bringing an end to the prolonged strike.
Chairman of CVCNU, Prof. Samuel Edoumiekumo has described the current situation as confirming victory to Boko Haram terrorists who have been fighting to stop western education in Nigeria, Punch Newspaper reports.
It can be recalled that several reconciliation meetings between Federal government and ASUU recently ended in a deadlock.
ASUU’s demands are approving UTAS instead of IPPIS for their salary payment, approving funds for revitalization of universities, paying earned allowances for it’s members among others
