Barcelona makes a historic recovery in La Liga wage cap

[ad_1]

Barcelona was one of the teams with the greatest activity during the just-completed summer transfer window.

According to Sergio Fernandez, the Catalans had to undergo a substantial economic recovery, especially after having their salary ceiling reduced to a negative amount of 144 million earlier in the year.

This occurred at a time when Barcelona had a large number of overpaid players, including Frenkie de Jong, Gerard Pique, and even Ousmane Dembele.

But in the summer, Barça was able to achieve a dramatic economic turnaround. In addition to many others, they were able to get rid of undesired talents like Philippe Coutinho, Samuel Umtiti, Martin Braithwaite, and Miralem Pjanic.

The Catalans also used a variety of economic tools to pay off debt and produce new revenue. Though they later had to approve the sale of other assets, the selling of 25% of the club’s TV rights was crucial in helping the organization raise new finances.

The club was able to approve the sale of Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang late in the transfer window, and the new sponsorship agreement with Spotify also played a role.

They were able to use the salary budget to sign Jules Kounde, as well as Hector Bellerin and Marcos Alonso, on the deadline day thanks in large part to this. Ultimately, the Catalans were able to create a dynamic club that has had a strong season debut.

With their wage cup increasing from -€144 million earlier this year to €656 million this season, Sergio Fernandez claims that Barça have made an excellent economic recovery in the process.

Another notable omission from the list of teams facing punishment for breaking the Financial Fair Play (FFP) rules was Barcelona.

It is evidence of the current administration, headed by Joan Laporta, making wise budgetary choices. The club must live up to the sports expectations, especially after assembling a strong team in the summer, so the road ahead could be challenging.
