Spanish La Liga Santander giant, FC Barcelona were in action tonight in their Group C UEFA Champions League opener at home against Plzen at the Camp Nou which was a thrilling encounter in front of the home fans.

Barcelona summer signing and former Bayern Munich forward, Robert Lewandowski was superb as the hero and saviour of the night for the Catalan giant where he scored a stunning hat-trick which was instrumental in their massive five goals to one victory at full time.

The Polish striker ran riot in the game as he gave an all-round performance at the heart of the forward line and as such posed to be a big threat in the opposition box all through the whole 90 minutes duration of the game.

Barcelona in the game got a two goals lead courtesy of a goal from Franck Kessie and Robert Lewandowski in the 13th and 34th minute respectively to make it two nil before the visitor got the deficit reduced in the 44th minute with a goal from Jan Sykora to make it two goals to one.

In the late minute to the end of the first half, Robert Lewandowski got his brace of the night to get the lead extended to make it three goals to one going into the half time break.

The host in the second half were more dominating as they put up some more dazzling displays and as such got the lead extended in the 67th minute with Robert Lewandowski completing his hat-trick to make it four goals to one, before Ferran Torres sealed the massive win in the 71st minute which ended the game five goals to one at full time.

After the game, the Polish striker Robert Lewandowski was named as the winner for the Man of the Match award following his outstanding performance for the team in the crucial win that placed them at the top of the table.
