In a 2-2 draw with Tottenham manager Antonio Conte last month, he was dismissed for two physical altercations and berated his players for having a “soft attitude” when they lost at Southampton. The final straw was a lopsided 1-0 loss on Tuesday to a Zagreb team with an alarmingly low Champions League record. After the game, Tuchel stated, “We are not where we need to be and where we can be.”
Boehly made the audacious declaration that the issue was a man who, in the last three seasons, has played for two different clubs and advanced to two Champions League finals. The American is under pressure right now to make the best hire so that his investment pays off on the field.
