Director general, centre for credible leadership and citizens awareness, Gabriel Nwambu has disclosed that if some of the recently nominated resident electoral commissioners with questionable features are confirmed by the national assembly, it will destroy trust in the independent national electoral commission.
Gabriel Nwambu who made the remarks during an interview just a few moments ago,
stressed that the recently held governoship elections in Ekiti state and Osun state gave the Nigerian electorates hope that their votes are beginning to count.
According to Gabriel Nwambu, it will be wrong for the national assembly to confirm any of the nominees who have affiliations with political parties.
Gabriel Nwambu stated that about 4 of the nominees have partisan tendencies and shouldn’t be confirmed by the national assembly because their confirmation will destroy the trust Nigerians already have for the independent national electoral commission.
You will recall that civil society organisations have since kicked against some RECs nominations made by Buhari ahead of the 2023 general elections.
