Daddy Showkey Reacts As Nigeria Police Force Suspends 2 Female Officers Over Viral TikTok Videos

Nigerian veteran singer, John Odafe Asiemo, popularly known as Daddy Showkey, has condemned the suspension of the two female police officers over the videos they posted on TikTok. The singer said that the suspension was uncalled for.

In a series of tweets he made on Twitter, and also shared by The Punch, the Police Public Relations Officer, Olumuyiwa Adejobi, had announced that the two female officers identified as Obaze Emmanuella Uju and Obaze Blessing have been suspended over what he described as discreditable conduct and violation of social media policy.

Earlier in the month, the two female officers had gone viral after one of them shared videos of themselves dressed in police uniforms and other sultry outfits on TikTok, and the videos had sparked mixed reactions on social media.

Adejobi said that the two Supernumerary Police Officers were suspended for “breach of the provisions of the Police Act, 2020, and The Nigeria Police Guidelines for Recruitment/Promotion/Discipline of Supernumerary Police (SPY) 2013 by the Inspector-General of Police, as captured in a video posted by one of the officers in a viral video on August 3rd, 2022.”

In his reaction to the suspension of the two officers, Daddy Showkey said that he sees nothing wrong with what the two female officers did, and that considering the kind of impression that many young Nigerians have about the Nigeria Police Force, the young ladies were only trying to make the Police Force look interesting.

In the report which was made by Vanguard, he said – “The Nigerian Police should go and do a visibility study about the impression that the Nigerian society has about them. Then you can justify this suspension of these two female ladies. First of all, I have to be honest with you, you need to change the image that people have of our policemen and women.”
