Do not blame Federal Government for ASUU strike, Minister of Education said

[ad_1]

The Federal Government of Nigeria has made it clear that there is no genuine reason for the citizens of this country to be disappointed over its efforts to end the ASUU strike, with the return of the university lecturers back to class.

The Minister of Education, Adamu Adamu, who appeared on Channels Television’s Politics Today on Wednesday, defended President Mohammadu Buhari from any blame in the ongoing ASUU strike. Adamu Adamu said that the President has done all within his powers to meet the demands of the university’s union. He expected the union to shift ground for the benefits of thousands of students and the entire nation. Adamu said that no demand can be met a hundred percent, and that Nigerians can only blame the Federal Government if it fails to do what it is supposed to do.

The Minister of Education further outlined the Federal Government’s efforts to end the industrial action, saying that the government of Buhari has proposed a one-time package for the striking lecturers. He said that it won’t be paid in instalments, unlike previous agreements.

Recall that Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) went on strike since February this year. Various centres of university are closed, and students are not having their lectures.
