Doctors express concern for Queen Elizabeth II’s health

[ad_1]

On Thursday, Queen Elizabeth II’s doctors expressed “concern” for her health and recommended that she remain under medical supervision, according to Buckingham Palace.

Since last October, the 96-year-old Head of State – Britain‘s longest-serving monarch – has been plagued by health issues that have made walking and standing difficult for her.

On Wednesday, she pulled out of a planned meeting with her senior political advisors, after being told to rest.

The day before, she met with outgoing Prime Minister Boris Johnson at her Scottish Highlands retreat, Balmoral, and named his successor, Liz Truss.

“Following further evaluation this morning, Her Majesty’s doctors are concerned for her health and have recommended she remain under medical supervision,” Buckingham Palace said in a statement.

“The Queen remains at Balmoral and comfortable,” the palace added.

The palace statement on the queen’s health is extremely unusual, coming after she has appeared visibly frailer in recent months, as well as a string of withdrawals from public engagements.

She has started walking with a stick and was seen earlier this year touring the Chelsea Flower Show in a motorised buggy.
