EFCC Reacts To The Video Of Brutalized Nollywood Actress, Helen Duru Circulating On The Internet

EFCC has finally reacted to the video of Nollywood actress, Helen Duru who accused its officers of allegedly brutalizing her.

EFCC said, “False and misleading video in circulation on EFCC operations”.

It said the attention of the commission was drawn to an online video trending on Instagram from the handle of a certain, Helen Duru, a self-styled actress purporting an assault by operatives of the commission.

EFCC said based on checks by the commission, flagged Helen Duru as a mere publicity-seeking player with poorly scripted claims that have fallen flat in the face of unassailable facts available to the commission.

It said in her script, that she was quick to include five names of officers she claimed came from the Cybercrime section of the Enugu command of the commission. EFCC said officers don’t wear name tags or move around with bulldozer-shaped equipment to pull down security doors.

EFCC said her claims were strange, adding that she said she was assisted by a little boy to a police station at 3:44 am but met the station shut. The commission said police stations are not civil service ministries that close in the evening.

In conclusion, EFCC said her purported assault of July 21, 2022, which has not been logged nearly two months later at the police station is only being brought to public glare on September 2, 2022.
