Ekpoma Protest: Protesters Vow To Continue Until Work Commences On The Failed Spot On Benin-Auchi Expressway. .

Following the week long blockade of the Ekpoma axis of the Benin/Auchi highway, by Esan youths protesting the deplorable state of the road, a team of the Federal Ministry of Works and the Edo State Government have assured the youths that work will commence on the road tomo

 

Despite this, the protesting youths are insisting that, repair work must  commence immediately for them to suspend the protest.

 

Following a lengthy deliberation, the technical officials of the construction company stated that, it will be impossible to commence work on the day and assured that earth moving equipments will start arriving site tomorrow (toady).

 

Consequently, the protesters therefore vow to continue the protest until actual work commences on the deadly highway.

 

Below is a statement of understanding between the protesters, the engineering and government team:

 

“After engagement with the delegates from Federal Ministry of Works, and Edo State Ministry For Works and Bridges, the people insisted that the work must start today but the Engineer of the construction firm, said he can’t start the work today.

 

The contractor representing DANTATA and SAWOE Construction Company, said earth moving mechines will start to come in from tomorrow but Comrade Dr. Jude Obasanmi, leader of the Ekpoma Eminent Stakeholders Forum who spoke on behalf of the youth said “the protest will continue untill work start and the people can no longer be decieved with empty promises”, he said.
