Erik ten Hag praises Marcus Rashford after superb display vs Arsenal

[ad_1]

Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag was full of praise for Marcus Rashford following his stunning Premier League performance against Arsenal on Sunday.

The Red Devils went into the game after three successive wins and made it a fourth after a solid counter-attacking display against the north London outfit.

Rashford was definitely the catalyst behind the victory as he was involved in all three goals for United.

The England international squared a pass for new signing Antony to open the scoring in the 35th minute.

The Gunners levelled the scores right at the hour mark through Bukayo Saka, but Rashford turned the game in United’s favour with two well taken goals.

United capitalised on the Gunners’ high backline with two vintage counter-attacking goals and Rashford managed to outwit Aaron Ramsdale on both occasions.

Speaking after the game, Ten Hag said that Rashford was brilliant and it was great performance from him. The Dutchman added that he made the right decisions.

He told Manutd.com: “He was brilliant. It was a really great performance from him. As a striker, he was pressing. But also, when we played it over him and he was the target, he made the right decisions.”

“For instance, also with the goal for Antony. Finally, he was twice in behind and finished. It was a great performance and I’m really happy because he has invested a lot.”

Rashford looks back to his best after a poor 2021/22 season

Rashford had a difficult 2021/22 season for the Red Devils following a shoulder surgery. He amassed just four goals and two assists from 25 appearances in the league.

He has looked back to his best this campaign. The England star looks more confident and assured in front of goal and has five goal contributions from just six outings.

Anthony Martial was initially touted to lead the line for United after a strong pre-season, but the former’s injury concerns have proved a blessing in disguise for Rashford.

Ten Hag’s decision to revert to Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s counter-attacking style has also helped Rashford and most United players, who are well familiar to the tactical system.

Rashford has now made the position his own. Hopefully, he has not suffered any injury. He was caught holding onto his hamstring before his late substitution last night.
