EVE vs LIV: The Worst Offside and Red Card Decisions Made by VAR this season

[ad_1]

The Premier league returned to action once again with Everton welcoming their Merseyside neighbors at Goodison Park, as expected it was a well contested game with both teams sharing the points.

The game once again showed how poor the use of VAR is in the Premier League, the technology made two absolutely shocking decisions, and in opinion these decisions are so far the worst in the Premier League this season.

The first decision in view today saw Everton’s second half goal cancelled for offside.

With the game levelled at 0-0, Everton’s Conor Coady found the back of the net, but a VAR review cancelled the goal, a review of the incident tells a different story in my opinion.

While the call was a close one it was still obvious that Coady was onside, the referee and linesman might have doubts buy VAR shouldn’t have.

From the above frames we can clearly see that Conor Coady was in line with Van Dijk, he was also behind the ball and his teammate who passed the ball to him, why the goal was cancelled is still a mystery.

The second decision in view from the game should have seen Van Dijk awarded a straight red card, the Liverpool defender lunged into a dangerous tackle on an Everton player.

With his outstretched legs Van Dijk caught Onana very close to his shin, it was a dangerous tackle that endangered the player, a red card would have been a more appropriate punishment but Van Dijk was allowed to continue the game.

A VAR review should have been conducted but surprisingly it wasn’t, this was a terrible decision.

Both decisions are the worst so far this season.
