Ex-Chelsea star Michy Batshuayi comes from the bench to net a late winner on his European debut for club in 2-1 win

Former Chelsea football club of England forward, Michy Batshuayi was the hero and saviour of the night yesterday for Turkish Super Lig giant Fenerbahce in their opening game of the Group B UEFA Europa League campaign at home against Dynamo Kyiv at the Ulker Stadyumu in Istanbul.

The 28 year old Belgian international left the Stamford Bridge in the just concluded summer transfer window shortly after his return to his parent club, Chelsea following the completion of his loan spell with Besiktas where he plied his trade in the last campaign.

Chelsea after his return proposed a transfer for him to join newly promoted Nottingham Forest which collapsed on the deadline day before the Turkish Super Lig outfit came for him, consequent to his top notch qualities in the competition with rival Besiktas where he scored a quite incredible number of goals.

His deal was then completed on a two-year contract with an option for further season after which he was handed his European debut yesterday against the Ukrainian side in the front of their home fans.

Michy Batshuayi started the game from the bench due to tactical reason but was introduced in the 69th minute for Joao Pedro and he was able to deliver at the peak using his vast experience at the heart of the forward line, and as such posed to be a complete threat in the opposition box with his whole minutes spent on the pitch of play which was instrumental in the hard-fought victory to earn the whole maximum three points.

The host in the 35th minute of the first half opened the scoring sheet with a goal from Gustavo Henrique to make it one nil going into the half time break before the visitor got levelled in the 63rd minute of the second half with an equalizer from Viktor Tsygankov, to make it 1-1.

After every other attempts from both sides to add more to the tally of the night, all were not successful until the 92nd minute when Michy Batshuayi came to his team’s rescue with a stunning winner which ended the game two goals to one at full time.

Batshuayi with his great influx of delivery in the show of the night will be hoping to keep his impressive run of form going for his team in their next game, as they continue their pursuit in the competition.
