Four clubs who are favourites to win the UEFA Champions League trophy this season

The 2022/2023 UEFA Champions League season is set to kick-off tonight with eight matches to be played across different venues which will see the likes of reigning Champion Real Madrid, Manchester City, Paris Saint Germain, Chelsea among others kick-starting their campaign on the first match day.

With 32 teams from 15 different countries to contest for the most coveted title, only one winner is expected to emerge at the end of the day when the final is played sometimes next year May in Istanbul Turkey.

With the 32 qualified teams for the competition in the new season, here are four teams who could be regarded as the favourites to win the title considering their star-studded squad:

Paris Saint Germain

The French Ligue 1 Champions could be considered as one of the favourites noting the fact that the team under new manager Christophe Galtier is parading one of the deadly attacking trios in the current football dispensation, with Lionel Messi, Kylian Mbappe and Neymar Junior playing at the frontline.

With their recent additions to the squad and having a world class goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma in between the stick, they could posed to be a very difficult side to beat for any team in the competition.

Football Club of Barcelona

The Catalan giant could also be winning their first title in the competition for the first time since 2015 having done everything needed to compete at the peak ahead of time.

The Xavi Hernandez’ side added some incredible new faces to the team and have been proving to rule again both in their domestic top-flight league and European competition, with the likes of Robert Lewandowski, Raphinha, Jules Kounde among others delivering at the peak.

Chelsea Football Club

The Thomas Tuchel’s side who won the tournament in the 2020/2021 season with an unbeaten record could be making a meaningful campaign in the current season, having also done well for themselves in the just concluded transfer window.

The Blues added some important figures to the squad both at the heart of the defence line as well as the attacking force with the likes of Kalidou Koulibaly, Marc Cucurella, Wesley Fofana, Raheem Sterling already making names for themselves in the team coupled with their newest recruitment, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang who could also be making his debut tonight in the opening game away from home against Dinamo Zagreb among others.

Manchester City

The Pep Guardiola’s side could also compete at the peak in the competition this season with the addition made to the team to make it more formidable across all competitions, having been raising the standard in the English Premier League since the new season began.

Having the likes of Erling Braut Haaland, Julian Alvarez, Manuel Akanji, Kalvin Phillips among other prominent figures in the team, they could also be a very difficult side to beat for any team in the competition.
