Erik ten Hag led Manchester United team were in action yesterday to kick-off their UEFA Europa League campaign at home against Spanish La Liga Santander giant, Real Sociedad at the Old Trafford.

The Red Devils who have been enjoying a blistering run of form in the English Premier League with a four-game winning streaks after their first two league openers ended in a disappointing defeats were unable to maintain the tempo yesterday, as they were stunned by the visitor in the front of their home fans.

Manchester United in the game were not convincing as they gave a shambolic performance which denied them the three points of the night and as such sit at the third spot on the table with no point.

Here are four players that performed far below average and as such contributed to the poor delivery of the night:

Casemiro

The Brazilian international and former Real Madrid star had a very bad day at office in his first start for the club since his summer arrival at the Old Trafford from the Spanish La Liga Santander Champion.

The 30 year old midfield maestro was unable to pick up his superb run of form from where he left off at the Los Blancos as he was seen losing possession on several occasions, thereby failed to create some meaningful chances that could have been helpful to advance the ball upfront.

Cristiano Ronaldo

The Portuguese talisman was also handed his first ever start in the new campaign but was unable to help the team in the disappointing night. The five times Ballon D’or winner also gave a shambolic performance as he made little or no meaningful contributions at the heart of the forward line, thereby fired blank in the keenly contested encounter.

Harry Maguire

The England international was also handed his first start of the new campaign and he was not at his best at the heart of the defence line.

The team’s captain who played the whole 90 minutes duration of the game made some blunders at the back line where he failed to make some decisive clearances to deny the visitor some clear cut chances.

Antony Dos Santos

The Brazilian international and former Ajax Amsterdam dazzler was not impressive in the game as he failed to create some clear cut chances that could have been converted into goals at the heart of the forward line.

He was not at his best in the show of the night and as such performed far below the standard he set for himself on his debut in the last weekend.

They will all be hoping to be back to their usual form in their next game with the optimism to help the team get back to winning ways as they continue their pursuit in the current campaign.
