The management of Gombe State University has decided to snub the directives of indefinite strike given by the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU). Gombe State University has released a circular informing all staffs to resume on 9th September 2022 or the invocation of No Work No Pay will be implemented by the institution. The management of the institution added that Academic Register will be provided at all offices of the Head of Department to ensure compliance.
Up till this moment, no agreement has been reached between striking lecturers and the federal government despite several meetings and negotiations between the two parties. Students have been at home for more than six months as a result of the industrial action.
Gombe State University is a state owned tertiary institution that has considerable academic reputation and recognition. Their decision to call off the strike is not directed at undermining the authority of the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU).
