Herbalist arrested for raping patient

The Bauchi State Police Command has arrested a herbalist, Monday Ishaku, for raping a sick patient’s mother after drugging her. 

 

Spokesperson of the command, SP Ahmed Mohammed Wakil, who disclosed this in a statement on Monday, September 12, said the suspect was arrested following a report lodged at Tafawa Balewa Divisional Police Headquarters by the victim’s husband, Yalda Istifanus.

 

According to Mr Yalda Istifanus, his teenage daughter fell sick and he took her to the suspect who claimed to be a herbalist, for treatment.

 

However, the suspect claimed that his wife, Rejoice Yalda is responsible for their daughter’s sickness because she belongs to a secret society but promised to treat the duo. 

 

“On 06/09/2022 at about 1500hrs detectives attached to Tafawa Balewa Divisional Police Headquarters successfully arrested one Monday Ishaku ‘m’ aged 32yrs of Anguwan Ruga who claims to be a herbalist for having canal knowledge of one Rejoice Yalda ‘f’ of Nahuta after intoxication at his house,” the statement read.

 

“The husband of the victim, one Yalda Istifanus ‘m’ of Nahuta revealed that on 03/09/2022 his daughter Mirable Istifanus ‘f’ aged 19yrs was sick after medical treatment there was no improvement to her health status.

 

“On 05/09/2022 he decided to take her to the said Monday Ishaku who told the husband that his wife Rejoice Yalda is responsible for their daughter’s sickness because she belongs to a secret society and promised to treat both the mother and the daughter in the night. In view of this, the suspect tricked the dire health seekers and commit an atrocious act

 

“On the backdrop of this development, the Command wishes to use this medium to caution parents to be wary of whom they take their children to for any form of healing and should not allow desperation but objectivity to be their guide in seeking remedy for their sick children, there abound many wolves in sheep’s clothing.”
