How Much CR7 and Darwin Núñez’s Agent, Jorge Mendes has made this Summer Transfer Window

Jorge Mendes has been involved in several big money deals this summer. How much did he earn on the transfer of Darwin Nunez from Benfica to Liverpool for €100 million and a few other deals? Continue reading to find out.

Mendes, 56, born in Lisbon, has Cristiano Ronaldo, Jose Mourinho and Joao Felix among his clients and has long been one of the most influential agents in world football.

Darwin became the most expensive summer transfer with his move to Liverpool, along with Antony, who swapped Ajax for Manchester United, and Aurelien Tchouameni, who also cost €100 million when he moved from Monaco to Real Madrid.

Fabio Vieira may not have made the list of the ten most expensive summer transfers, but Arsenal paid €45 million for his move from Porto. Mendes received 10 percent of that.

“According to reports from Portugal, Mendes also received a 10 per cent share of Fabio Vieira’s €35 million move from Porto to Arsenal and Vitinho’s €40 million move from Porto to Paris Saint-Germain, giving him a total commission of €13.5 million.”

Mendes made lots of Money this summer:

Only ten percent of Vieira’s commission amounts to €4.5 million. While we can’t know for sure the rest of Mendes’ contracts with clubs and players, if that 10 percent is an average of Mendes’ earnings, he’s had a really good summer.

“Nobody will move without his involvement, especially in the Premier League,” Pippo Russo, a sociologist at the University of Florence who specialises in the football industry, tells The Guardian.

“This was perhaps the most important summer of his career as an agent – he was involved in many transfers. He’s really everywhere at the moment.”

The three biggest transfers from Portugal to England were Darwin, Vieira and Matheus Nunes, who joined Wolverhampton Wanderers from Sporting Lisbon for €44 million. Joao Palhinha cost the fourth most, joining Fulham from Sporting for €23 million.

Taking into account Mendes’ 10 per cent commission, the four transfers alone would have put €22.2 million in his pocket – not bad for someone who once ran a video store.
