I was asked to bring ₦2billion before I could be ADC presidential candidate- Dumebi Kachikwu

The last may not have been heard about the crisis between the presidential candidate of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Dumebi Kachikwu and the national chairman of the party, Ralph Nwosu.

Two days ago, the National Working Committee (NWC) of the party led by Nwosu suspended Kachikwu for anti-party activities, making a false, misguided and defamatory video among other things.

But in a swift reaction, Kachikwu said the Nwosu-led NWC lacked the powers to suspend him because their tenure expired on the 28 of August.

Speaking more on the crisis on Politics Today, Kachikwu alleged that the Nwosu-led NWC are used to politics where they milk candidates seeking for elective positions on the platform of the party.

He said the issue Nwosu has with him is because he didn’t have the opportunity to fleece him.

When asked if it was true that the chairman requested a certain amount of money from him because he said that when he was on the programme yesterday?

He said, yes and I refused.

When asked how much was that?

He said, “It came from ₦2 billion to ₦500 million on the day of the convention. He called me in the meeting with the BoT chairman and said from what we see here, these delegates are here for you. But I won’t let you proceed until you bring this amount of money. I called his bluff and I walked out. I’m not desperate to be your flag bearer or the President of Nigeria that you have to blackmail me to bring this amount of money, and I refused.”
