JAMB, NUC threaten to sanction varsities

[ad_1]

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board and the three regulatory agencies for tertiary education in the country – the National Universities Commission, National Board for Technical Education and the National Commission for Colleges of Education – have said they will sanction institutions that sell application forms for the conduct of the 2022/2023 admissions, The PUNCH has learnt.

Our correspondent gathered that the move was meant to curtail the high rate of irregular admissions conducted by institutions.

The PUNCH reports that the conduct for the 2022/2023 admissions commenced in August 2022 with JAMB pegging the deadline at December 31, 2022.

Though some institutions are yet to commence the admission processes, JAMB said it would sanction institutions that sell application forms to candidates.

The board directed that all applications must be routed through the Central Admissions Processing System.

In a document titled, “Serialisation of guidelines for the 2022 admissions exercise,” which was made exclusively available to our correspondent on Monday, the board noted that it was working alongside the three regulatory agencies for tertiary institutions.

“All applications of admissions to First Degree, National Diploma, National Innovation Diploma and the Nigeria Certificate in Education into Full-Time, Distance Learning, Part-Time, Outreach, Sandwich, etc., must be processed only through JAMB.”
