The Kano State Government, on Saturday, pledged to commence the exploration of huge deposits of mineral resources in the state in a bid to enhance the economy and generate employment for the teeming youths.

The Commissioner for Finance and Economic Development, Alhaji Adamu Abdu Fanda, made the disclosure while receiving delegates from the Revenue Mobilisation Allocation and Fiscal Commission, a federal government agency responsible for overseeing the country’s wealth allocation formula in his office.

The commissioner, who was represented by the Permanent Secretary of the ministry, Dr Lawan Abdulwahab, also disclosed that the state was blessed with abundant mineral resources, which if utilised, would enhance the economy and create wealth for the people of the state and Nigeria in general.

He maintained that natural resources would make the state self-reliant in terms of revenue generation as well as create employment opportunities for the teeming youths across the country.

To this extent, Fanda appealed to stakeholders in the mining industry, especially those with secured mining licences but were yet to commence operation, to allow other prospective miners to fully participate in business.
