AbdulAzeez Awesu, a candidate for the Peoples Democratic Party’s House of Representatives seat in Ikorodu, has organised youths and adults in the district to support Atiku Abubakar, the party’s presidential candidate, in the general elections of 2023.
At a gathering he organised in Ikorodu on Wednesday, Awesu, who is suing the Supreme Court over the removal of his mandate, asked members of the division to support Atiku.
Speaking during the rally, Awesu said that the PDP was actively involved in the division and that the party’s presidential candidate was a unifier who would fulfil his campaign pledges to the populace.
He said, “People really need to know that PDP is still on ground. That is just the basic essence of the rally and to know that Atiku Abubakar is going to be the next President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
“Atiku Abubakar is the unifier. The major reason why we are doing this is to bring Atiku Abubakar to each and every one’s doorstep, knowing that it is him that can do it on the platform of the PDP.
“I’m really happy with the turnout. It showed that a lot of people have actually been waiting for this to happen. We have lots of strategies in place and for sure, I tell you that in Ikorodu, PDP is taking the Ikorodu Assembly, House of Representatives, the Senate, and the governorship seats.
“You can see how people came out massively despite the weather. Trust me, we are going to have three to five more rallies, and the essence will be to bring PDP to the people’s doorsteps. I am sure that the third rally is going to include our Excellency, Abdul-Azeez Adediran aka Jandor, who is our governorship candidate; senatorial candidate, in person of Akobada; House of Assembly candidate constituency 1, Hon. Olamide Lawal, and our House of Assembly candidate for constituency 2, in person of Hon. Oyebo.”
