European football is one of the most pressurised sports arenas, meaning directors of football are regularly sacked as clubs fear the worst and make changes to ensure success.

In the continent’s top leagues, coaches are frequently replaced and sacked during the season, and coaches’ tenures are becoming shorter.

In fact, the next manager to be sacked is an important part of football transfer news, as the effect of a managerial change can often lead to major changes on and off the pitch.

The 2022-23 season has begun in Europe and we have already had our first loss of a manager.

Below, FootballTransfers presents all the managers in Europe’s top five leagues who have left their positions during this campaign.

Premier League managers sacked in 2022-23:

Scott Parker became the first manager to be sacked in the Premier League in 2022-23, after receiving his letter of resignation on 30 August. This followed a disastrous start to the season in which the newly promoted team conceded 16 goals in three games, including a 9-0 defeat at Anfield to Liverpool.

The first high-profile coach to be sacked was Thomas Tuchel from Chelsea on 7 September. Just 15 months after winning the Champions League, the German was given the order after losing three of the season’s first seven games.

Last season, ten managers were sacked in the Premier League, including Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, Roy Hodgson, Marcelo Bielsa and Sean Dyche.

La Liga managers to have been sacked in 2022-23:

None so far.

Last season, 11 managers were sacked in La Liga, including Ronald Koeman, who lost his job at Barcelona. He was replaced by club legend Xavi.

Levante head coach Paco Lopez was the first coach in La Liga to be sacked after failing to win any of the club’s first eight games of the 2021-22 season.

Serie A managers to have been sacked in 2022-23:

Sinisa Mihajlovic was the first manager to be sacked in Serie A on 6 September, when Bologna found themselves just one point above the relegation zone.

Last season, 10 managers were sacked in Serie A, including Walter Mazzarri and Andriy Shevchenko.

The first Serie A manager to lose his job in 2021-22 was Verona’s Eusebio Di Francesco. He stayed just three games before being sacked.

Sacked Bundesliga managers 2022-23:

On 7 September, Domenico Tedesco became the first Bundesliga manager to be sacked after Leipzig won just one of their first five games of the season and also lost their first Champions League match against Shakhtar.

Five Bundesliga managers were sacked during the 2021-22 season, including Mark Van Bommel and Jesse Marsch.

The first coach to be fired in the previous Bundesliga season was the aforementioned Van Bommel, who left his post in October 2021.

Managers sacked in Ligue 1 2022-23:

None so far.

In the 2021-22 season, four managers have been dismissed from their positions in Ligue 1, including Claude Puel and Niko Kovac. Puel was the first to lose his job.
