Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp may drop five players for the Wolves match as the Reds are in crisis

After being humiliated by Napoli on Wednesday night in the Champions League, Jurgen Klopp‘s team must respond quickly and forcefully this weekend or the season will be over before it even gets started.

The Reds’ manager might suggest a changed starting lineup when they play host to Wolves on Saturday night at Anfield.

Despite Napoli’s 4-1 victory last night at the Diego Armando Maradona Stadium, the score may not fully capture how dominant the Serie A squad was.

With the pressure mounting on the German coach as a result of his team’s disastrous domestic start, Klopp did not hold back in his criticism of his team either.

“We were not compact defensively or offensively,” said Klopp to BT Sport following the game. To give up three goals [in the first half] with Alisson in goal, you have to be awful. On the field, you could see it. We weren’t operating as a unit. We lose games as a result.

Liverpool players may have been held accountable on Wednesday, and Klopp will need to bench some of them to get his team to respond.

Jurgen Klopp might bench Andrew Robertson and Trent Alexander-Arnold first since the latter has recently displayed particularly erratic defensive play.

Joel Matip might replace the underwhelming Virgil van Dijk at central defense, even if Joe Gomez was equally terrible against Napoli, to allow Alexander-Arnold to regroup.

Kostak Tsimikas, who started the Merseyside derby last week, takes Robertson’s spot on the left.

Despite serving as captain while Jordan Henderson recovers from injury, James Milner is probably going to be removed given his recent problems.

Milner replaced Thiago Alcantara in the Napoli game, and the Spaniard will probably start ahead of the former Manchester City midfielder. Fabio Carvalho, however, has impressed and could be given another chance to start.

With Darwin Nunez now available, Klopp may decide that it is time for a change in the final third and that players who have not yet delivered should be dropped.

Given that he has so far this season failed to make an impact on the majority of games and has resembled a shell of the player who tore apart the Premier League last year, Mohamed Salah is unquestionably a potential in this regard.

Nunez could play in the center if Diogo Jota replaces Roberto Firmino because he appears to be getting closer to match fitness after brief appearances against Napoli and Everton.

We’ll have to wait and see if Klopp thinks Saturday is the right day to make such radical changes once more.
