Making A Southerner A Mere BoT Chairman Is An Insult To The Zone – Wike Says

Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike, has reacted to recent developments at the PDP’s National Executive Council, including the resignation of the Board of Trustees (BoT) Chairman, Walid Jibrin, and the vote of confidence given to the Party’s National Chairman, Senator Iyorchia Ayu.

Wike, speaking at the inauguration of Rivers State University’s Ahoada Campus on Thursday, said he was unconcerned about Jibrin’s resignation.

According to him, the BoT serves as an advisory body rather than a decision-making body, so giving the position to southerners would be an insult to them.

“Who’s talking about the Chairman of the BoT?” he inquired. Is the role of the Board of Trustees merely advisory? It is not a decision-making body. The party’s presidential candidate and chairman will be present to make decisions.

“The presidential candidate and party chairman are both from the North. How can we be here when the chairman and presidential candidate will meet, make a decision, and no one will represent us?”

Wike went on to accuse Atiku and Ayu of being arrogant because they believe someone in the Presidency is supporting them. He stated that he will reveal the person’s identity at the appropriate time.
