Malawian court executes a Catholic priest and a doctor for killing an albino

The murder of an albino man named MacDonald Masambuka for ceremonial purposes resulted in the execution of a Catholic priest, Rev. Fr. Thomas Muhosha, a police officer, Chikondi Chileka, and a doctor, Lumbani Kamanga, by the Malawian High Court on Wednesday.

In addition to handing down the verdict, Justice Dorothy Nyakaunda Kamanga also sentenced Muhosha, Chileka, and three other defendants to 30 years in prison with hard labour for dealing in human body parts.

In addition, Kamanga received a second 60-year prison term for taking human organs.

On March 9, 2018, Masambuka was expelled from his village.

A few days later, one of the suspects’ home in Malawi’s southern Machinga area was where his headless body was discovered buried in the garden.

The victim’s brother, Cassim Masambuka, was enticed to meet his pals, who had discovered a woman who would marry the albino, according to the prosecution’s testimony in court.

The court heard that when Masambuka and MacDonald got to their destination, the other convicts who had been lying in wait grabbed MacDonald by the neck and dragged him to the .garden where they killed him.

The also cut off his limbs and burnt his body using gasoline.

Masambuka was also sentenced to life in prison for murder along with a 14-year sentence for trafficking in persons.
