Meanwhile, the President-elect, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, has called on Nigerians to see the Eid-el-fitri season as an opportunity to embrace peace and share love among one another.

This was contained in a statement issued in Abuja on Thursday by his media office.

Eid-el-Fitr is a religious holiday celebrated globally by Islamic believers because it marks the end of the month-long dawn-to-sunset fasting of Ramadan.

In his felicitation message, the President-elect noted that beyond the self-abnegation and pious lifestyle that the fasting period brought, the spiritual excercise should help Nigerians to improve on their moral character and refine their minds in pursuit of higher ideals for which there should be no turning back.

He said, “To love one another, have compassion, empathy and love our beloved country means we must become better citizens in line with the teachings of Prophet Muhammed. We must constantly seek to become a better version of ourselves in patriotism, dedication to duty and honesty. We must also never be weary of doing what is right, fair and just to all.

“We are at the dawn of a Renewed Hope for a better, greater and a more prosperous Nigeria and I stand ready to walk with all Nigerians, young and old, male and female, with this opportunity to serve you in honour and dignity. This is a commitment that I have made and one in which we cannot afford to fail. I wish all Muslims in Nigeria and beyond happy Sallah celebration.”

Also, the Governor of Gombe State, Muhammadu Yahaya, in a statement by Director-General of Press Affairs Government House, Ismaila Misilli, enjoined the Ummah in the state to sustain the momentum of supplication, devotion and prayers for the peace, development and prosperity of the state and Nigeria as a whole.

He said, “As we celebrate the Eid-el-Fitr festival, I wish to admonish us to learn from the good lessons of Ramadan which connotes piety, obedience, and selflessness. We must all imbibe the tenets of Islam which promote peace, tolerance, modesty and love.”

Also, a frontline aspirant in the race for seat of Senate President in the 10th National Assembly, Senator Jibrin Barau, called on the Muslim faithful in the country to emulate the enviable attributes of the Holy Prophet Mohammed (SAW).

“Eid-el-Fitr festival should serve as a guiding light to all Muslims in the country to always do what is just, fair, equitable and good towards all men no matter the differences,” he said.

Meanwhile, the Katsina Police Command, on Thursday, evening announced the deployment of security operatives from the command and other sister agencies to all Eid praying grounds across the state, as part of measures to ensure a hitch-free Eid-el-Fitri.

The operatives were also deployed to recreational centres, business districts, national buildings and highways .

The spokesman for the command, CSP Gambo Isah, made the revelation in a statement made public in Katsina.
