My Escape From Igueben Train Station Attack – A lucky Escapee.

By Ebor Cletus Ralph Jr.

Recall that on Saturday, the 7th of January 2023, deadly armed herds men stormed the peaceful town of Igueben, the administrative headquarters of Igueben LGA, precisely, the Tom Ikimi Train station, where over 30 Warri bound passengers were taken hostage and score of others badly injured.

TrendyNews had an interview with one of the few lucky escapees of the frightening incident. For security reasons, we won’t be giving his real name. Also for the same reason, we are keeping his address away from the content of this interview.

He hails from a nearby town and I started by congratulating him for his lucky escape. Thank you sir,  he responded.

How did you manage to escape? I put the question to him. It was a long story. Yeah, you may keep it shot. I urged him. He went on: I took a passenger to the station like I often do, but, this day was different. Just as I waited a little while before leaving the station, suddenly, hell was let loose with the sudden appearance of gun men numbering about 4 shooting sporadically and ordering everybody around.

Eventually, people were lined up into groups with each gun man taking charge. I was in the first group that was marched into the bush. As the journey commenced, there was a gap between my group and the second. Some how, I foot dragged to test what the reaction would be. Luckily, there was no reaction.

I found out that I was now being left behind by everyone including the  kidnapper who led my group. At this point, I decided to take a gamble. It paid off. I walked into the side bush and took cover. I was there until the rest groups walked past. When it was dead silent, I knew it was now safe to walk back to the station.

Back there  I found the amount of wreck that had be done. I searched for my bike, I found it. I tried to start it. It refused. I had to roll it away as fast as I could. Along the away, I tried again and to the glory of  God, the bike came alive. In no time, I was at Palm City where I told my parents my story.
