Dino Melaye stated that the former governor of Lagos State’s mental and physical health were in doubt following the outing of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential candidate, Bola Ahmed Tinubu, during a campaign flag-off on Tuesday in Jos.
In a video posted on his Twitter account on Wednesday, Melaye made the assertion.
APC members, including President Muhammadu Buhari, were present in large numbers as the party’s presidential campaign activities for the 2023 general elections got underway in the capital of Plateau State.
Nigerians’ reactions to the former governor of Lagos State’s performance at the event were conflicting.
Melaye claimed that being physically and mentally fit was a constitutional requirement for the office of president.
The former lawmaker further asserted that Tinubu’s alleged involvement in drug-related activities rendered him unfit to serve as President of the nation.
He said: “Aso Rock is begging for a healer not a patient, to start with. The Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria is very clear that to be president you must be physically and mentally fit. And with what we have seen on TV, on programme and with his (Tinubu) hands, leg shaking, we know the man physical and mental health is questionable. That must be asserted.
“Nigeria cannot have a president who is a drug baron and possibly a drug consumer. There is a document that has indicted Bola Ahmed Tinubu as a drug baron”, he added.
