The spokesman of the Atiku-Okowa 2023 campaign, Daniel Bwala while being interviewed on the Voice of the People FM Radio said former president Olusegun Obasanjo called him to support the candidacy of Peter Obi which he declined. Bwala said,
“Former President Obasanjo called me to support Peter Obi’s presidential ambition, I declined but I must apologize on air because while we were talking after he mentioned that, I promised him that when I come back to Nigeria, I will see him give him my response. My apologies were premise on the fact that I felt like a commander in chief, I couldn’t come back to go and look at a statesman like him.
“I say no to his offer because it is an offer that I know I wasn’t going to take. So I felt like if I just avoided him technically, he might just understand that I respect him. And I deeply appreciate it. If you remember, I was in your program sometimes but when I made that insinuation, you try to clarify that there was no evidence to suggest that and I told you at the time that I did have reliable sources.”
