Former President Olusegun Obasanjo, Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde and wife of the Vice President, Mrs Dolapo Osinbajo, on Saturday showered encomiums on the Basorun of Ibadan, Kola Daisi, describing him as a philanthropist and a trailblazer in many areas.

They all said  Daisi, the proprietor of the Kola Daisi University, is  a man of great accomplishments whose life had positively affected the country and humanity in general.

They  said this at the inauguration of Subomi Balogun Hall and Agbeke Memorial Hall to mark the 90th birthday of Chief Kola Daisi at KolaDaisi University, Ibadan, on Saturday.

Obasanjo, in a letter written to Daisi, a copy of which was made available at the ceremony, said Daisi’s 90 years on earth was full of lessons for the present and the future generations.

He said, “Your devotion to duty in the private sector in various areas of general business is remarkable; your philanthropy and generosity have marked you out as a public-spirited businessman who loves his people and serves them with a high sense of responsibility. Indeed, you have blazed the trail which is exemplary.

“All your years in public life, I have come to appreciate the diversity and depth of the Nigerian talent and I have always believed that given the right environment, we can compete favourably with the best in the world.

‘’I am well aware of the commendable contributions you made in your engagement as the Chairman of the Nigerian Investment Promotion Commission, NIPC, under my administration as the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.’’
