The spokesperson for the Atiku Campaign organisation, Mr Charles Aniagwu has declared that former President Olusegun Obasanjo and Rivers State governor, Nyesom Wike will throw their weights behind the presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Atiku Abubakar, which will in turn translate to a victory in 2023 election.
Speaking to newsmen in Asaba, Delta State on Wednesday, Aniagwu said that the former President, Chief Obasanjo and Governor of River state, Nyesom Wike were part of Atiku’s project to win the 2023 presidential election.
In his words, “Wike has vowed to work for PDP and deliver Rivers State to the party since the last meeting he had with Atiku.
“It doesn’t imply Obasanjo isn’t backing Atiku just because he once claimed he doesn’t have a candidate for now when he met with former President Ibrahim Babangida. We have high hopes that he will back Atiku’s bid for the presidency in 2023.
“While we are focusing on the Wike situation, we won’t lose sight of our overall objective to save Nigeria. We are in charge of managing teamwork. Wike, like other states, has candidates running for office, and they will do everything in their power to ensure their success, which would also mean success for Atiku. Wike will assist others, so we won’t lose Rivers.
Aniagwu stated that the PDP presidential candidate was also working on legislation that, if he were to be elected, would deal directly with the problem of corruption while avoiding becoming embroiled in smear campaigns against critics.
He said that no one should be given the chance to lead Nigeria in 2023 who contributed to its current status.
Aniagwu claims: “Atiku has realized that Buhari did not fulfill the promises they made in 2015,”
He has seen that our people are going through difficult times as a guy who has been able to comprehend the necessity to give back to a country that has provided for him, not only because he wants to hold the office of President.
“Those who are lying today like they did years ago cannot have the same freedom in 2023.”
