The Lagos State Government has advised residents of Agboyi, Ikosi/Ketu areas of the state to obtain planning permits from the state before they embark on physical development and construction activities.
According to a statement on Sunday, the General Manager of Lagos State Physical Planning Permit Authority, Kehinde Osinaike, gave this advice during a stakeholders’ forum organised for members of the Community Development Association and Community Development Councils in Ketu.
He said, “Obtaining necessary permits before any construction work and adhering to the rules and regulations involved in building construction will bring about a safe and serene environment for residents. The process has been simplified and made seamless and the agency will ensure that the processing and obtaining building approval is ready within 10 working days without delay.
“Part of LASPPPA’s duties is to ensure that an individual or organisation embarking on erecting any structure gets a planning permit and follows the rules guiding building constructions. I must warn that anyone who fails to get the approval of relevant government agencies in charge of physical development will face the wrath of the law.”
In his response, the Chairman, CDA Magodo Phase I, Tangbaju Benson, urged the government to do more enlightenment programmes to keep the public informed of the necessary steps to take before embarking on building projects as it will regulate the activities of greedy developers.
