Gabriel Slonina has established himself as Chicago Fire‘s number one goalkeeper at a young age, and that attracted intrest from Chelsea and Real Madrid for the American goalkeeper before the 18-year-old talented shot stopper decided to join Chelsea from MLS club, Chicago Fire.
Gabriel Slonina has already signed his Chelsea contract in the summer, but he was immediately sent out on loan to his former club until January. The 18-year-old will join Chelsea when the January transfer window opens.
Slonina who has stared all of Chicago Fire’s twenty nine league games this season, was in goal for the club’s away trip to Columbus Crew in the Major League Soccer.
The game ended in a goalless draw at the full-time whistle, but the highlight of the game was Slonina’s herioc saves to deny Columbus Crew a goal. The Chelsea loanee made three saves in the first half, before adding another six incredible saves in the second half of the match to take his total saves to nine in one match.
This outstanding display from the young goalkeeper earned him the man of the match award, as Chicago Fire got an important one point on the road.
