OFFICIAL: Premier League postponed this weekend games as a mark of respect to Queen Elizabeth II

The English Football Governing body popularly known as the Premier League have announced that this weekend’s games have been postponed, in honour of late Queen Elizabeth II who died on Thursday at the age of 96.

The Royal Family announced the demise of Queen Elizabeth II on their verified Twitter handle on Thursday evening, and all the countries have been sending their condolences to the family.

It has been rumoured that the English Premier League will be played this weekend despite the fact that Queen Elizabeth just died, but it has been finally confirmed that the League has been postponed.

The Matchday 7 of the English Premier League supposed to start on Saturday afternoon, and Chelsea football club were expected to travel to Craven Cottage Stadium to play Fulham football club, while Tottenham Hotspur football club would have travelled to Etihad Stadium to play Manchester City football club.

All the matches that supposed to have taken place this weekend have now been postponed till further notice.

The Premier League posted on their verified Twitter handle on Friday that;

“As a mark of respect to Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, this weekend’s Premier League match round will be postponed.”

The Premier League will announce the new date for the postponed fixtures later.
