Okpebholo Promises Radical Overhaul For Edo: Insecurity, Health, and Infrastructure Top Agenda In Udaba Rally
In the latest leg of the APC ward-to-ward campaign, Senator Monday Okpebholo, the gubernatorial candidate, visited Udaba Ward 8 in Etsako Central, promising a sweeping transformation for the area.
Addressing the spirited crowd, Okpebholo, who considers Udagba his home, highlighted his plans to connect Ugboha to Anegbette—an initiative discussed with his mentor, Adams Oshiomole. He vowed to tackle insecurity, enhance healthcare, provide soft loans to market women, revive mechanized agriculture, and recruit new teachers, outlining a broad agenda aimed at revitalizing Edo State.
At the rally, former governor Adams Oshiomole reminisced about a 2016 warning from Hon. Donald Osikhena regarding Governor Godwin Obaseki’s suitability, which he claimed had proven accurate. Oshiomole assured the crowd that Okpebholo would not forget the communities of Udagba, Osomegbe, and beyond, pledging that he would be disappointed if Okpebholo failed to fulfill his promises.
Reflecting on his past campaign, Oshiomole recalled his vehicle breakdown on the way to Anegbette and his subsequent promise to build the road—a commitment fulfilled as travel from Ugbekpe Ekperi now takes under 20 minutes. He assured the people that the Udaba-Osomegbe road would also be completed under Okpebholo’s leadership.
Oshiomole also noted his appointment of numerous individuals from the Ekperi communities during his governorship, underscoring his dedication to the region.
Hon. Donald Osikhena, a former commissioner under Oshiomole, declared that Ward 8 in Etsako Central is firmly secured for the APC. State assembly member Hon. Ahmed Waziri praised Okpebholo as a principled leader who will continue Oshiomole’s legacy, expressing gratitude for the Anegbette road construction.
Former state assembly member Damian Lawan expressed confidence that Udaba would deliver significant results for the APC and urged the party not to overlook the Udaba-Osomegbe area. Former Etsako Central chairman Hon. Joseph Ughioke also thanked Oshiomole for his infrastructural contributions and assured the APC of victory in the upcoming elections.
